COMMUNITY-WIDE INVITATION:
We thank you for your consideration and generous support of our future – our youth.

and public service initiatives.

Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. is a private, non-profit organization founded in 1913 whose purpose is to provide assistance and support through established programs in local communities throughout the world. Over 900 chapters are located in the United States, England, Japan (Tokyo and Okinawa), Germany, the Virgin Islands, Bermuda, Jamaica, the Bahamas and the Republic of Korea.  A sisterhood of more than 250,000 predominately African-American college educated women, Delta Sigma Theta provides a wide array of community services through its Five-Point Program Thrusts of Economic Development, Educational Development, International Awareness and Involvement, Physical and Mental Health, and Political Awareness and Involvement.

The Henry County Alumnae Chapter continues to focus on the needs of the community by sponsoring educational development initiatives, economic development seminars and workshops, as well as physical and mental health forums.  Since its chartering on December 4, 2004, the Henry County Alumnae Chapter has worked untiringly to provide positive service to our community including awarding college scholarships to Henry County high school seniors and mentoring girls ages 11-18.

PURPOSE:
In an effort to encourage our youth to be Drug, Alcohol, and Tobacco free, the Henry County Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. presents the:

2009 Stomp D.A.T.
(Drugs, Alcohol and Tobacco)
Youth Step Show

The STOMP D.A.T. (Drugs, Alcohol, and Tobacco) Youth Step Show allows positive competitive fun with a message of avoidance in the use of drugs, alcohol and tobacco products.  The competition raises funds for scholarship programs and celebrates our youths’ pledge to be “D.A.T Free”!

The project goal is to provide education on the effects and affects of drug, alcohol and tobacco abuse and use the art of stepping to rally those who have made the pledge to be “D.A.T. Free”.

The event will feature youth step teams from the metropolitan Atlanta area. Mothers Against Destructive Decisions (MADD), Mental and Physical Health Practitioners, Voter Registrars, college recruiters and Armed Forces recruiters will sponsor display booths and provide age-appropriate literature and guidance to program participants to further discourage substance abuse and to encourage healthy lifestyles.
